Lip and Tongue Tie Revisions

Frenectomies (lip and tongue tie revisions)

At Aldrich Pediatric Dentistry we perform our frenectomy procedures on infants and children using state of the art technology in the form of a carbon dioxide dental laser. This allows us to perform procedures in a manner that reduces and sometimes eliminates bleeding. It also eliminates the need for stitches in a majority of cases.

Infant procedures

Lip tie revisions (maxillary frenectomy)

Tongue tie revision (lingual frenectomy)

Infant frenectomies can improve breastfeeding difficulties such as:

  • Insufficient latch
  • Poor weight gain
  • Gastroesophageal reflux
  • Prolonged feedings
  • Maternal discomfort
  • Mastitis

Child procedures

Child frenectomies (lip tie revisions) can improve ability to brush, reduce plaque buildup which can prevent early childhood caries (dental cavities) and aid in space reduction/closure between the upper front teeth.

Tongue tie revisions in children can improve difficulties in speech, increase tongue mobility, and prevent compromise of gum tissue support
